The Orange County Fire Authority posted an explosive new video to warn residents about the dangers of fireworks as we approach the Fourth of July holiday.

The Fire Authority’s lighthearted but powerful video shows dummies set in different scenarios being blasted by fireworks.

In one memorable scene, a watermelon used for a dummy’s head is obliterated by a firework to the face.

“Don’t be a dummy… leave fireworks to the professionals,” the Fire Authority tells viewers in the video posted to Instagram Thursday.

The somewhat comical approach also sends a serious message to those thinking about using fireworks at home, which is illegal in many California counties.

The Fire Authority warned residents that fireworks-related injuries have increased recently by more than 500 incidents a year.
