Daniel Shaughnessy is battling brain and spinal cancer, and lost the ability to walk after a tumor damaged his spinal cord in the past year, local television station KPTV reported.

Daniel, who now uses a wheelchair to get around, decided he wanted to be Darth Vader for Halloween and the folks at Magic Wheelchair saw an opportunity to create something special.

They started working on a TIE Fighter that would fit around Daniel’s wheelchair and began piecing the one-of-a-kind costume together.

Saturday, they presented Daniel with his special accessory just in time for Halloween, KPTV reported.

“The whole team of people that came out with them in costume. I mean…It was amazing, absolutely amazing,” said Jessica Thomas, Daniel’s Mom told the station.

Star Wars characters and kids with light sabers surrounded Daniel, who was dressed in his Darth Vader costume, as the new TIE Fighter was put over his wheelchair.

“There were definite tears! Definite tears… And being able to see the look on his face when they took the cover off, and he got to see it, was amazing!” Thomas said.
