A Southern California obstetrician accused of sexual misconduct has been removed from his leadership role at a Pasadena hospital and must have a chaperone when treating women in the maternity ward.
In changes announced Friday, Huntington Memorial Hospital also said that Dr. Patrick Sutton has been removed from the list of doctors on call to deliver babies.
A hospital spokeswoman tells the Los Angeles Times that staff and California’s medical board are looking into allegations against Sutton. The paper says Sutton declined to comment when reached by phone.
Five patients sued Sutton or complained to the medical board. Four cases have been settled.
One woman says Sutton made inappropriate comments about her sex life in 2016. Another said he inserted his ungloved fingers inside her during a 1998 ultrasound exam.
