Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a pedestrian in Hollywood Thursday morning.
The crash was reported just after 1:30 a.m. on West Sunset Boulevard, outside the Bossa Nova restaurant between Formosa Avenue and North Detroit Street, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Cervantes and video from the scene.
The vehicle was traveling east on Sunset as the pedestrian was walking south on Formosa when they collided.
The victim was described only as a man in his 50s. His identity was not being released, pending the notification of his next of kin, LAPD said in a news release.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid to the victim, Cervantes said.
Instead, the motorist continued heading east on Sunset Boulevard, officials said.
No description of the driver or the vehicle was immediately available.
As with all hit-and-run crashes, the city is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
Anyone with information can contact LAPD’s traffic detectives at 213-473-0234.
