A 59-year-old man whose release from a Central California mental hospital prompted a public warning from Orange County prosecutors has left two different counties, where police were monitoring him.

Cary Jay Smith moved to Orange and then to Corona Friday. But on Saturday, police said he had also left Corona. It’s unclear where he will be moving next.

“Mr. Smith is not on any form of supervised release or required to register as a sex offender,” the Police Department said in a 10 a.m. tweet. “Smith can move around without restrictions. Corona PD will update the community when he leaves.”
