The power went out for a while at Los Angeles International airport Monday morning, an official confirmed.
The airport-wide outage occurred about 6:15 a.m. as a thunderstorm was dropping rain in the area, LAX spokeswoman Nancy Castles said.
The emergency generators turned on and restored power to airport, Castles said.
As of 6:45 a.m., several areas were still being powered by the generators and airport personnel were assessing the situation, according to the spokeswoman.
No delays or cancelations were reported as a result of the outage, Castles stated.
Around 10:30 a.m., airlines at LAX were reporting delays of 45 arrivals and 46 departures, as well cancellations of two arriving and four departing flights, possibly due to inclement weather.
Power was subsequently restored to the facility’s two parking structures, the spokeswoman said. A handful of airlines in the Tom Bradley International Terminal were unable to process passengers using ticketing counter computers, and were thus manually checking-in travelers, she said.
Although airport officials expected operations to return to normal Monday morning, travelers were still urged to call their airlines to check on the status of their flights, Castles said.
