A pursuit that topped speeds of 100 mph on the 91 Freeway ended in Buena Park when the vehicle crashed into a wall, officials said.
The driver lost control sometime after 2 a.m. and drove over the side of the the eastbound 91 Freeway at Knott Avenue before coming to rest against the sound wall, said Capt. Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Fire Authority.
Video from the scene showed the badly damaged silver vehicle on its side as crews tried to extricate the driver.
Firefighters worked for more than 30 minutes to get the driver out of the vehicle, Kurtz said.
The driver was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center. It was unknown if he would survive, Kurtz said.
No officers were injured in the incident, according to Kurtz.
There was no immediate information on when or why police began to pursue the vehicle.
