A missing Riverside police K-9, who escaped from his enclosure overnight, was found Monday around 9 p.m. at the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter.
“Noran” was found after a citizen who regularly checks the shelter’s web page noticed the similarities between a dog on the site and the missing K-9, according to Lt. Mike Cook with the Riverside Police Department.
Riverside police personnel went to the shelter and identified Noran, who appeared to be safe and well, according to Cook.
The 80-pound Malinois was reunited with his handler, Cook said.
Noran is 5 years old and has been a police service dog for two years, Riverside police Lt. Christian Dinco said.
It was believed that he escaped from his enclosure at his handler’s home in Moreno Valley about midnight Sunday, according to a news release from police.
