Madison Elaine Triplett, 17, of John Marshall Fundamental High School, was chosen to preside over the 2015 Tournament of Roses at a coronation ceremony on Tuesday evening in Pasadena.
Triplett, of Altadena, will serve as the 97th Rose Queen.
Out of 700 young women who participated in a monthslong process in hope to becoming Rose Queen for the tradition-filled annual event, the field was winnowed to just seven on Oct. 6, when the Royal Court was named.
The Rose Princesses are Mackenzie Joy Byers, 18, Pasadena City College; Gabrielle Ann Current, 18, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy; Veronica Sara Mejia, 19, Pasadena City College; Bergen Louise Onufer, 17, Mayfield Senior School; Simona K. Shao, 17, Westridge School; and Emily Alicia Olivas Stoker, 17, Temple City High School.
The Rose Queen and her Royal Court make more than 100 appearances at media and community events leading up to the 126th Rose Parade on Jan. 1, 2015.
KTLA is a media partner of the Rose Parade and will air the annual event on Jan. 1, 2015.
