Runners celebrate the Year of the Dragon at the L.A. Chinatown Firecracker

For the 46th year in a row, runners crossed the starting line of the L.A. Chinatown Firecracker run on Sunday morning.

Created to bring Lunar New Year celebrations to a mainstream audience, the 10K and 5K race has been held since the 1970s. According to the event’s website, it’s the largest Lunar New Year Run, Walk, Cycling, and Dog Walk event in the United States.

Of course, the fun festivities are also for a great cause. All proceeds go toward the community, including local schools and nonprofits.

This year’s edition celebrated the Year of the Dragon.

The celebrations include more than the race; a two-day festival in Chinatown kicked off on Saturday.
