Police recently began investigating a Santa Clarita school staff member after several minors reported inappropriate conduct that allegedly took place in Tujunga, according to a Los Angeles Police Department news release.
The person being investigated was only described as a staff member at Albert Einstein Academy, in the Tuesday news release.
The school’s website showed it operated three campuses. It was not clear from the news release what campus the staff member worked at.
Santa Clarita Valley radio station KHTS reported it was the high school campus, located in the 28000 Kelly Johnson Parkway (map).
The school’s principal was made aware of the allegations Friday and the staff member was placed on leave, KHTS reported.
Although the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was initially contacted, LAPD took over the investigation because the alleged crimes took place in Tujunga (map), an area that falls under police jurisdiction about 20 miles southeast of Santa Clarita.
The LAPD’s Sexually Exploited Child Unit was handling the investigation.
“Throughout this investigation, LAPD detectives will work closely with the administrators at Albert Einstein Academy to ensure that the staff member is not in a position to be in contact with students,” the department news release stated.
