A second-story balcony on a mixed-use building in Long Beach partially collapsed Friday morning as powerful winds and rain continued to pound the region.
The collapse happened shortly after 6 a.m. at the building located near Woodruff Avenue and Los Coyotes Diagonal (map).
The building contained four residential units on the second floor and some businesses on the bottom.
Part of the collapsed balcony was blocking the entry way to the bottom floor units and also crushed the front end of a Toyota Camry that was parked in front of the building.
Some residents who were home at the time of the collapse had to be helped down from the second story by rescuers from the Long Beach Fire Department.
No injuries were reported in the incident, according to a Fire Department public information officer on scene.
The building was red tagged, meaning there would be no allowed occupancy to residences or the business, the official stated.
The collapse came as a powerful storm dropped several inches of rain and brought heavy winds to the region Friday.
