SpaceX rocket carrying 22 satellites blasts off from Southern California

A SpaceX rocket carrying 22 satellites launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in Southern California on Thursday night, the privately owned company announced.

Operating in its 301st mission, the reusable Falcon 9 rocket successfully blasted off from the base about 60 miles northwest of Santa Barbara at 8:11 p.m. The rocket launched 22 Starlink satellites into low-earth orbit.

Starlink, operated by SpaceX, is an internet-service provider which has had thousands of satellites launched around the world.

SpaceX said the reusable booster of the rocket safely landed on “Of Course I Still Love You,” a spaceport drone ship off the Pacific Coast of Baja California.
