A 19-year-old with special needs who was found dead in a school bus in Whittier was identified by the L.A. County coroner’s office on Saturday.

Hun Joon Lee was the man found dead Friday afternoon after his mother called the school when he didn’t return home that afternoon.

Lee had been picked up that morning by a bus operated by “Pupil Transportation” and transported to Sierra Vista Adult School.

He was found hours later by a driver who went to check the bus, parked outside the Whittier Unified High School District, after Lee’s mother’s report.

The cause of death or how long the teen had been in the bus were not known, but police were investigating the possibility that the student was left in the bus all day after receiving reports that he never got off the bus.
