A stolen vehicle suspect was arrested after leading deputies on a dangerous pursuit through San Bernardino County.
The suspect was identified as Raezahntae Edward Baird, 26, from Norco, according to the Victorville Police Department.
On March 12, officers spotted a 1998 Honda sedan that had been reported stolen out of Cabazon. The vehicle was found at a Walmart parking lot on the 11800 block of Amargosa Road in Victorville.
Deputies later witnessed Baird entering the driver’s seat of that stolen vehicle.
When authorities tried to pull Baird over, he refused to yield, leading officers on a pursuit. During the chase, the suspect drove recklessly, at times driving on the wrong side of the road while speeding through red lights and residential areas, officers said.
The suspect’s vehicle was eventually disabled by authorities, bringing the chase to an end. Baird was taken into custody at the scene. He faces charges of felony reckless evading and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Authorities discovered Baird was currently on probation for a prior conviction for possession of a stolen vehicle out of Riverside County.
The incident remains under investigation.
