A car-to-car shooting in downtown Los Angeles left one person dead and sent two others to the hospital early Sunday morning, authorities said.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the shooting occurred at the intersection of East 12th Street and Maple Avenue around 12:15 a.m. near The Santee Alley, an outdoor collection of shops in L.A.’s Fashion District.

“It appears that the victims came to a stop while in their vehicle when the suspect vehicle pulled up next to them,” an LAPD spokesperson confirmed to KTLA. “A suspect then popped out from the sunroof and fired multiple rounds towards the victims before fleeing from the scene.”

Three people were in the car that was shot at, police said. They were only identified as two men – one of whom was declared dead at the scene – and a woman.

The two other victims were transported to a local hospital in critical and stable condition, LAPD said, but they did not confirm who was in critical condition.

Video from the scene shows an officer rendering CPR to one of the victims; the car which the victims were in appeared to end up a couple of blocks away where it collided with a pole.

Detectives were seen placing dozens of evidence markers in the area. Multiple shell casings were recovered, authorities confirmed.

No suspect or vehicle descriptions were immediately available.

The shooting occurred just blocks away from the site of where General Hospital actor Johnny Wactor was shot and killed after he tried to stop thieves from stealing his vehicle’s catalytic converter.
