Multiple people were taken into police custody on Friday morning after leading officers on a high-speed chase through Los Angeles.
According to the L.A. Police Department, the pursuit began at about 8:47 a.m. It wasn’t immediately clear why the pursuit began besides that there was a suspect wanted for a felony crime.
At least three people were inside the grey sedan that was being pursued.
Images captured by KTLA’s Sky 5 showed the suspect driver initially speeding on the 170 Freeway before exiting on Magnolia Boulevard in North Hollywood. The driver then primarily drove on Lankershim Boulevard.
The driver was going upward of 80 miles per hour on times on Lankershim, oftentimes driving on the wrong side of the road to weave through traffic and blowing past red lights. On multiple occasions, he nearly caused major collisions.
At about 9:15 a.m., he pulled into the parking lot of what appeared to be an apartment complex. Two others, a man and a woman, exited the vehicle along with the driver, and all three separated as officers closed in on the area.
The driver, wearing a grey hoodie, eventually took off on foot and crossed Lankershim before being cornered in an automotive shop. There, officers took him into custody.
