SUV plows through homeless encampment in Brentwood, injuring 3

An investigation is underway after an SUV drove through a homeless encampment in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles early Thursday morning.

The crash was reported about 12:30 a.m. in the 11500 block of West San Vicente Boulevard.

Investigators say a single vehicle drove through the camp, striking several people.

Three patients were located and assessed at the scene, according to a Los Angeles Fire Department news alert.

All of the injuries were determined to be minor and none of the patients required hospitalization, the Fire Department stated.

Video from the scene showed a badly damaged black Lincoln SUV that came to a stop in the encampment.

The SUV was eventually removed from where it came to a stop off the road.

There was no indication the driver of the SUV was impaired, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The driver was not arrested although investigators believe speed may have been a factor in the crash.
