The investigation began Nov. 1 after police received a report of alleged inappropriate conduct involving Silva, officials said. Charges were filed Friday.

“The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office filed multiple counts of sexual battery and child annoyance, and a warrant in the amount of $400,000 was issued for Silva’s arrest,” according to the police statement. “Mr. Silva was subsequently taken into custody without incident.”

Officials released no further details regarding the allegations against the teacher.

The school’s website describes Silva as a science teacher, as well as a football kicking coach, an athletic trainer and a girls lacrosse coach.

Information regarding Silva’s initial court appearance was not available Saturday afternoon.
