Thieves steal copper statue from Lynwood high school

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in tracking down a copper statue stolen from a Lynwood high school and apprehending the thieves.

The statue at Marco Antonio Firebaugh High School, 5246 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., was taken between 2 p.m. Saturday and 10:45 a.m. Sunday, the LASD said in a news release.


This was at least the second attempt at taking this statue; would-be thieves in a black truck tried to take it at 4:30 a.m. Jan. 17 as well.

Similar thefts and attempts have been reported at Los Angeles County cemeteries.
