Two LAPD officers were injured in a crash in the Crenshaw District on Tuesday night while responding to a request for assistance at the end of a pursuit in South Los Angeles.
The brief pursuit started around 9:15 p.m. when officers attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle, according to Officer Mike Lopez with the Los Angeles Police Department.
The chase ended near the intersection of Somerset Drive and West Adams Boulevard after the driver jumped out of the vehicle and tried to run away, Lopez said.
Officers chased after the driver and he was taken into custody.
In the meantime, officers responding to assist the units handling the pursuit were involved in a traffic accident at Crenshaw and Exposition boulevards, according to Lopez.
Two officers were injured in the crash.
They were transported in stable, but serious condition to local hospital, Lopez said.
Both officers were treated and released from the hospital, according to a spokesperson for the LAPD.
