More than 100 people gathered to remember Jordan Love and his mother, Michelle Kelly-Love, just hours after the Carson City Council approved a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for their deaths.

The double fatal shooting occurred in the 19500 block of South Tillman Avenue shortly before midnight on Saturday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

Jordan Love, 27, was sitting in front of his house with his 54-year-old mother and his grandmother when a dark-colored sedan driving northbound on Tillman approached and fired numerous shots at the car, the release stated.

Love and his mother were struck multiple times and died at the scene. His grandmother was not wounded.

Love’s father was inside the home and rushed to his son’s side.

“I was rubbing on his shoulders as he lay there … in the gutter,” Jose Love said. “Then I knew he was gone. His mom, however, never moved. Her hands stayed on the steering wheel. And, her head was back on the seat.”

Jose Love was at a loss to explain the brutality of what happened.

“Nobody can go out and pretend that he was some kind of street thug,” Jose Love said. “That’s why it’s so perplexing to see him have such a senseless demise, along with his mom.”

A neighbor, who asked not to be identified, told KTLA the incident left him stunned.

“Because for this neighborhood, this street … it’s a real quiet neighborhood, it’s really surprising for me for something like this to happen,” the man said.
