Police in Gardena were asking for the public’s help Tuesday identifying a couple who robbed and beat a woman as she was walking from her car to work.

The victim, an employee at the Hustler Casino, had just parked her vehicle and was on her way to work at 10 a.m. on Jan. 6 when she was approached by a man and a woman, according to a news release from the Gardena Police Department.

The female suspect grabbed the victim’s purse, the release stated.

“There was a struggle for the purse,” said Gardena Police Lt. Steve Pendergast. “The victim was punched by the female suspect in the face.”

The female suspect eventually took possession of the purse, Pendergast said.

She and her male accomplice then drove off in a silver Dodge Neon with oxidized paint on the truck lid, according to the release.

Several hours later a woman was seen on surveillance video in Southgate using the victim’s credit cards. The victim positively identified the woman on the video as her attacker, police said.

Anyone with information was urged to call Detective Michael Ross at the Gardena Police Department at 310-217-9635.
