Authorities have identified a 30-year-old California man who died in skiing accident over the weekend at a resort near Lake Tahoe.

The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Reno said Andrew McDowell of Tahoe City, California died at a Reno hospital Sunday from injuries he suffered at Northstar California resort near Truckee, California.

The cause and manner of the death remain under investigation.

The Tahoe Daily Tribune reported that the resort confirmed that a serious incident took place on the mountain Sunday involving an employee, but declined to provide further information.

Nadia Guerriero, Northstar California’s vice president and general manager, said in a statement that the resort, its parent company Vail Resorts and Northstar Ski Patrol “extend our deepest sympathy and support to our employee’s family and friends.”
