Five soldiers from Fort Hood, Texas, were killed and four others were still missing Thursday after their vehicle overturned in a low-water crossing, according post on the Fort Hood Public Affairs Office’s website.
The bodies of three of the soldiers were recovered downstream from the vehicle, the post stated. It was not clear where the two other bodies were found.
Three other soldiers were safely rescued and were hospitalized in stable condition, according to website.
Local and state agencies were assisting in the search for the four missing soldiers, using aircraft, canine search teams, heavy-ground equipment and swift-water rescue teams, according to the post.
The soldiers were part of the 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, officials said.
The vehicle overturned at the Owl Creek Tactical low-water crossing and East Range Road, the agency stated.
