A 95-year-old woman was dragged for several feet when a man grabbed her purse outside a Tennessee shopping mall and she was unable to let go.
The incident occurred at the Oak Court Mall in Memphis just before 10 a.m. Monday and was captured on surveillance video, which was posted to the Memphis Police Department’s Facebook page.
The video showed the elderly victim, who was walking with a cane, as she approached the door to a store in the mall.
A man standing nearby then grabs the woman’s purse and begins to run away as the victim is dragged behind him for six or seven feet, the Police Department stated.
The woman was hospitalized with multiple injuries but was in non-critical condition, according to the Police Department.
The thief got into a dark colored Chevrolet HHR and fled the scene.
Authorities were searching for the man but had not made any arrests at the time of the post.
