A grandmother in Chicago was arrested Monday after police say she sliced a baby’s throat with a power saw.
The 9-month-old girl was found dead in the Little Village neighborhood around 9:40 a.m. Monday morning, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Authorities told the paper a 52-year-old woman, who was reportedly the baby’s grandmother, used a circular saw to cut the child’s throat because the baby wouldn’t stop crying.
The baby was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the woman, who had not been identified, attempted suicide and was found by a relative. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with self-inflicted wounds and later placed in police custody.
