A group of bystanders jumped into a Salt Lake City, Utah river to prevent three teenagers who were trapped in an overturned SUV from drowning, and the dramatic rescue was caught on cellphone video.
The GMC Yukon was believed to be speeding when it lost control, slammed through a fence and went airborne before landing upside down in the Jordan River last Thursday, CNN reported.
One bystander said he heard a loud boom, saw the submerged vehicle and then rushed into the water. Without hesitation, other witnesses jumped in to help.
Cellphone video showed the group effort to turn the water-filled SUV over.
Eventually, the group of good Samaritans managed to flip the vehicle back onto its wheels and prevent the teens from drowning.
Two of the passengers crawled out of the vehicle quickly, but the driver was pinned and had to wait until firefighters could free him.
The teens were last reported to be in stable condition, according to CNN.
