Caught on Video: Wild Baltimore Hit-and-Run Leaves Pedestrian Seriously Injured

When a Baltimore driver attempted to flee from attackers he said were trying to pull him from his vehicle, he slammed into a parked car and then reversed up and down a sidewalk, leaving a pedestrian seriously injured, police said.

The series of violent events, caught on video by a bystander from a window above the chaotic scene, occurred early Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Fells Point area.

The driver, identified as 28-year-old Orlando Redd of Parkville, Maryland, was arrested on suspicion of numerous charges, Baltimore police said in a Facebook post.

The 17-minute YouTube video showed a man banging on the window of Redd’s vehicle before it crashed into a stopped car. Then, two men appear to try to get into the 1999 Honda Odyssey after it strikes the car.

After reversing wildly onto the sidewalk and hitting a 27-year-old woman, the minivan sped away, driving forward on the sidewalk into an intersection.

“He just ran that woman over twice,” a man can he heard shouting on the street in the video.

Police stopped Redd nearby. He was under the influence of alcohol, police told the Baltimore Sun.

It was not clear if the attackers were sought by police or if they had been stopped.

“It was way more than a fight. Someone is very, very injured down there,” says the man recording the video.

A GoFundMe page created by the owner of a boutique in the neighborhood identified the hit-and-run victim as Jill Boram, saying she needs many surgeries. The page, posted Saturday, had raised more than $53,000 as of Tuesday afternoon.

An unrelated triple shooting also happened nearby that night in the historic neighborhood, better known for restaurants and shopping, the Sun reported.

The video of the hit-and-run incident has been viewed more than 472,000 times.
