A nationwide voluntary recall of select Corona Extra 12-packs and 18-packs was recently announced by Constellation Brands Beer Division after it was discovered that some may contain small glass particles.
The limited recall affects roughly one out of every 5,000 bottles, or less than one-tenth of one percent of Corona Extra 12-ounce clear bottles in the marketplace, according to Corona USA’s website.
“While the number of potentially impacted bottles is relatively small, we’re initiating this recall as a precaution to ensure the safety of consumers,” the website stated, noting that the vast majority of Corona beers were not affected.
No injuries have been reported to date.
Consumers were encouraged to check the 8-digit alphanumeric code printed on the side of cardboard cartons of 12- and 18-packs, and on the necks of the 12-ounce bottles, to determine whether they have the recalled product.
A full list of the codes for the potentially impacted bottles can be found here.
Those who have one of the recalled beers were urged to dispose of it and contact the consumer call center at 866-204-9407 for a refund and additional information.
Constellation Brands recalled Corona beer in 2014 because of a similar problem, according to the website.
