A 2-year-old girl who suffers from a rare genetic condition became the target of cyber-bulling after her mother posted the child’s birthday picture online last month.

Kyra Pringle, didn’t think twice when she put Mariah’s picture on Facebook, according to a report by Charleston television station WCBD.

The South Carolina mother told the station she was not prepared for the hateful reaction the photo triggered from thousands of complete strangers.

“I never knew people could be so cruel,” Kyra Pringle told WCBD. “It was so much hate up under that picture.”

But in the days that followed, Pringle told the station that positive comment began to outnumber the negative ones and that some of the same people who had taunted the toddler began to apologize.

“It’s amazing that now the world knows Mariah,” Pringle told WCBD.

According to the station, Mariah suffers from chromosome two duplication syndrome and has already lived longer than her doctors thought she would.
