Knott’s Berry Farm officially opened its new and improved Camp Snoopy area Thursday.
Jon Storbeck, the vice president and general manager for the theme park, was joined by Snoopy and The Peanuts Gang, along with more than 100 campers from The Boys and Girls Club of Buena Park, to officially cut the ribbon on the reimagined land, theme park officials announced.
The updated area will include Snoopy’s Tenderpaw Twister Coaster, a new family roller coaster, an updated version of Woodstock’s Airmail, now known as Camp Post Office, a brand-new lookout terrace area known as Barrell Bridge and Waterfall, updated dining at Grizzly Lodge, and more.
At Barrell Bridge and Waterfall, guests can earn merit badges and explore the great outdoors. Parents will have places to relax while their children participate in the activities.
Rocky Mountain Trucking Company was transformed into the new Camp Snoopy’s Off-Road Rally, where guests race to the finish line in their own four-wheel Jeep themed to Snoopy or another Peanuts character. Along the course, riders will also see “funny road signs and obstacles to go over, around, and under.”
Sally’s Swing Along, a new addition to the area, is designed to give guests a break from the theme park. The super-sized swing set slated to be in the area is big enough for parents and kids to enjoy together. The bench swing set will take young riders up to 10 feet in the air as they sway back and forth.
Sally’s Swing Along didn’t open with the land, due to a construction delay, but theme park officials told KTLA that it will open soon.
The Grand Sierra Railroad was rethemed to Beagle Express. Guests can take a scenic ride through Camp Snoopy and may see Peanuts characters along the journey as they “prepare for the jamboree events,” theme park officials previously announced.
The Camp Snoopy Theater was also replaced with the Beagle Scout Acres, “the camp’s central hub or large rec green space, where campers of all ages can explore, enjoy lunch outdoors, snack on shaded picnic tables or simply lie back and gaze at the clouds above,” theme park officials announced.
The new site will also be home to “jamboree camp-tivities with Beagle Scout Master Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang will take place including special sing-a-longs around the new campfire fire pit.”
Plans for the Camp Snoopy renovation, the first since 2014, were released last August.
