Knott’s Berry Farm is celebrating 90 years of its Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner restaurant, with special events planned for the rest of the year.

This year marks the 90th anniversary of the popular restaurant at “America’s First Theme Park.” The restaurant’s story began in the 1920s when Cordelia Knott began selling hot biscuits and homemade preserves to customers of the family’s roadside produce stand to make ends meet.

By 1934, Cordelia expanded the menu to include the now famous country-fried chicken and later on in the year, on June 13, Cordelia served eight 65-cent dinners on her wedding china.

By 1940, people were waiting hours for Walter Knott’s boysenberries and Cordelia’s chicken.

The food success led Walter Knott to create Knott’s Ghost Town and, eventually, the greater theme park area.

To celebrate 90 years of the restaurant, Knott’s will be offering a wide variety of events, such as:

On June 13, Knott’s will also receive a Resolution of Recognition from the Office of Senator Janet Nguyen (R-Huntington Beach) to commemorate 90 years of “excellence in the community.” Guests who attend the ceremony will also be the first to be able to purchase exclusive anniversary merchandise.

All the events will occur at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant at Knott’s Berry Farm.
