WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – President Joe Biden returned to Washington on Tuesday, after spending the weekend in Delaware, with Covid-19. It was his first public appearance since he dropped out of the 2024 presidential race.
When asked, the president told reporters he was feeling “well.”
Vice President Kamala Harris, who has enough delegate support to win the Democratic nomination, held her first campaign rally in Milwaukee on Tuesday.
“The path to the White House goes through Wisconsin,” Harris said.
The Harris campaign picked up several key endorsements on Tuesday, including from Senate and House Democratic Leaders Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).
“Boy, oh boy, are we enthusiastic,” Schumer said.
The Congressional Black Caucus Political Action Committee held a press conference on Tuesday, expressing support for Harris.
“She is the most qualified and prepared to defeat Donald Trump,” said Rep. Steven Horsford (R-Nev.).
Republican Vice-Presidential Candidate J.D. Vance held his first two solo campaign rallies on Monday. The rallies were the Trump campaign’s first since President Biden dropped out of the race.
“It really doesn’t matter who we run against because every Democrat in leadership has supported these broken policies,” Vance said.
President Biden will address the nation for the first time since dropping out of the race on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET.
