Robert Allenby was allegedly kidnapped, beaten and robbed on Friday night in Hawaii after missing the cut at the PGA Tour’s Sony Open.
Allenby’s caddie, Mick Middlemo, told Steve Sands of the Golf Channel that he and another friend were with Allenby at a bar before the 43-year-old Australian golfer was allegedly kidnapped.
Sands reported that Middlemo said Allenby woke up groggy at a park more than six miles from the bar. He did not have his wallet, cellphone, money or credit cards and could not remember how he got there. He was said to have been aided by a retired military man, who helped Allenby get from the park to his hotel.
Middlemo told Sands that Allenby on Saturday began to put together events from the night before while talking to his caddie and the other friend, who was not identified. Allenby returned to the bar with police to check video footage from Friday night.
