Celebrating LA's Latino businesses for Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month runs from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, and we are celebrating by spotlighting some Latino-owned small businesses in Los Angeles. KTLA's Megan Telles had the opportunity to visit Café Calle, where she learned about their backstory and got a taste of what this specialty coffee shop has to offer. Café Calle owner Diana Martinez and co-owner Antonio Carrillo were this year's recipients of the Siete Foods Surprise Check of $50,000. Nostalgia Gorditas owner Arlae Chio in Lakewood was also awarded a $15,000 Siete Foods Surprise Check in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Bear breaks into Sierra Madre home

A Sierra Madre resident returned home to a shocking surprise after discovering a bear had broken in while searching for food.

The bruin left behind a trail of destruction inside, knocking over furniture, objects and any food it could get its paws on. The homeowner, Anne, said the bear had crawled through a side window to gain access to the home on Sunday, Sept. 15.
