A deadly shooting claimed three lives and a house was set on fire in the Antelope Valley overnight. While it was initially reported that a suspect had been arrested, sheriff’s department officials told KTLA shortly before 9 a.m. that they weren’t sure if the shooting and arson suspect was taken into custody, on the run or among the deceased. Samuel Woodward, the man responsible for killing his former classmate Blaze Bernstein in an anti-LGBTQ and anti-Jewish hate crime, will spend the rest of his life behind bars. Woodward was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Friday, Nov. 15, 2024.
Following the sentencing, Bernstein's family addressed the media, saying "Hate is not the answer."
