Some families were allowed back to their neighborhoods to survey their homes damaged by the Palisades Fire.
Ground and aerial firefighters are working around the clock to save homes from the encroaching fire. As of Saturday afternoon, the Palisades Fire was mapped at 22,661 acres and was 11% contained. More than 5,000 structures, many of them homes, have been destroyed in the Pacific Palisades and Malibu.

Local officials provided an update on Saturday, Jan. 11 as the Eaton Fire continues burning with some additional containment on Saturday.
As of Saturday afternoon, the wildfire had scorched 14,117 acres and was 15% contained, an improvement from the 3% containment reported Friday night. According to preliminary estimates from CalFire, over 7,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed by the blaze.

The Jones family of Altadena was one of many who lost their home in the Eaton Fire, which continues to rage through the area on Saturday. Despite the loss of the place they called home for 55 years, the family is doing the best they can to remain hopeful and strong. KTLA 5's Carlos Herrera reports. (Jan. 11, 2025)
