On Saturday afternoon, two local nonprofits partnered up to fly 84 pets to safety out of Burbank Airport in the wake of the devastating Southern California wildfires. The organizations, Best Friends Animal Society and Wings of Rescue, boarded 58 cats and 26 dogs onto the emergency rescue flight to a sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. Local officials provided an update on Saturday, Jan. 11 as the Eaton Fire continues burning with some additional containment on Saturday.

As of Saturday afternoon, the wildfire had scorched 14,117 acres and was 15% contained, an improvement from the 3% containment reported Friday night. According to preliminary estimates from CalFire, over 7,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed by the blaze.

The Jones family of Altadena was one of many who lost their home in the Eaton Fire, which continues to rage through the area on Saturday.
