A suspect who police say was wanted for a parole violation crashed after officers initiated, then discontinued a pursuit in the San Fernando Valley.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers from the Devonshire Division began pursuing a gray Acura around 7:10 a.m. Tuesday; however, they called off the chase shortly after.

Where the pursuit started was not disclosed.

The Acura crashed into three vehicles at Balboa Boulevard and Nordhoff Street in Northridge after the pursuit was canceled, according to LAPD Officer Miller.

“The suspect was taken into custody and is being checked out at a local hospital,” Officer Miller confirmed.

No other injuries were immediately reported, but Officer Miller stated that two ambulances were called to check out patients.

Footage from Sky5 shows three damaged vehicles that came to rest in the intersection. A fourth vehicle was seen a short distance away underneath caution tape.

A block of Nordhoff and Balboa in each direction has been closed for the investigation, which will last for an unknown duration.

Delays were seen on residential streets as drivers sought alternate routes.

Tuesday morning’s crash following a pursuit comes less than 24 hours after a pursuit crash killed a sheriff’s deputy in the Inland Empire.

The deputy was later identified as 36-year-old Hector Cuevas.

The driver of the vehicle being pursued in that incident, Ryan Dwayne Turner Jr., was taken into custody and will be booked for vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and evading a police officer while causing serious injury or death.

Turner, 22, reportedly has a previous record in Rialto of fleeing and injuring a deputy. He had failed to yield in an allegedly stolen vehicle prior to crashing on Monday morning.
