A family is devastated after a sergeant with the Los Angeles Police Department was arrested in Orange County, accused of killing a 19-year-old man in an alcohol-related hit-and-run over the weekend.

Authorities confirmed Wednesday morning that a mother and daughter were killed in a shooting near an elementary school in Compton Tuesday evening. Deputies were called to the scene on West Caldwell Street and South Central Avenue near Caldwell Street Elementary around 7:15 p.m.
